Security Camera Installation by ADT

CCTV, commonly referred to as stand alone camera systems, is a vital part of security for many homes and businesses in need of a video surveillance package. There are several types of camera systems and it is important to have a basic understanding of these type systems, especially when comparing quotes. Many companies can provide a lower quote by cutting the quality of camera lens, camera housing,
recording device and memory, as well as the brand of equipment and warranty offered.

Smart Home Protection balances quality and price to offer customers a high-quality video surveillance system at an affordable price.
There are three (3) types of camera systems, each with variations:

1. Analog Systems
2. HD (High Def) Video Systems over Coax/Analog
3. IP (Internet Protocol) Systems

Analog Systems

Analog CCTV or video surveillance systems are the old, lower quality systems. These are often seen on the news where a robbery took place in a store and the video looks very choppy, blurred and sometimes black and white. These are outdated systems in today’s high technology world and Smart Home Protection does not sell these low quality video surveillance systems.

HD Video Systems

HD over Coax systems is the new technology for analog systems. HD over Coax is often described as what most people now receive on their home TV from the local cable company or satellite provider and is considered a good quality system. It provides high definition pictures, normally in 720p (even on 1080p TV’s) that are crisp and clear for easy viewing. To the naked eye this technology offers a clear picture, but when zooming in on a still frame the picture will become distorted. The recording device is referred to as a DVR (Digital Video Recorder).

IP Systems

IP Systems are the latest and greatest video surveillance technology–these systems have a range of cameras measured in megapixels. Commonly used cameras would be anywhere from a 1.3mp camera to a 4mp camera. These systems run over the internet and normally a single wire carries both power and signal from the camera to the recording device known as an NVR (Network Video Recorder). These wires are normally a CAT5 wire instead of the Coax cable used on the other system. CAT5 allows a larger amount of data to move much faster between the camera and the recording device. This technology not only provides a high definition view to the naked eye, but a still frame can be zoomed in without distortion so that small details can be viewed clearly, similar to how most smartphone cameras work today.

difference between an analog alarm system and an ip alarm system

Both HD over Coax and IP Systems are offered by Smart Home Protection. We customize the packages to fit the need and viewing area of monitored area. We use commercial grade equipment which has stronger housing, better lens and higher quality recording devices. Stores that sell camera systems that come in a kit are lower quality, do not last as long, have shorter warranties and the cameras are normally all the same regardless of brand. When covering a home or business, some areas may require a fixed wide lens (like at a front door), while a back yard or driveway may need a verifocal lens with a more narrow view. We are experts at installing the right type camera in place to give our customers the best video surveillance coverage.

Whether you need a four camera system or a 50 camera system, call Smart Home Protection for a professional consultation to see how we can help you protect your home or business.
